About
Jonathan Charrier is a Montreal-based entrepreneur and the founder of Charrier Global Imports, an import and export company dedicated to connecting North American consumers with specialty foods, artisanal goods, handcrafted clothing, and wellness products from around the world. His work is guided by a simple philosophy: culture is best experienced through the things people create. Raised in Montreal’s Rosemont neighborhood, Jonathan grew up immersed in the city’s multicultural environment. Both of his parents worked in hospitality, instilling an early appreciation for service, human connection, and attention to detail. Weekend visits to Montreal’s public markets became a formative ritual, sparking his lifelong fascination with global flavors, textiles, and craftsmanship. After studying international business at a local college, Jonathan spent two years traveling through France, Italy, Peru, Brazil, and Morocco. During this time, he volunteered on vineyards, toured cooperatives, and worked closely with artisans in small workshops. He witnessed firsthand how many skilled producers struggled to access broader markets despite creating exceptional products. These experiences laid the foundation for Charrier Global Imports. In 2012, Jonathan returned to Montreal and launched Charrier Global Imports from a small warehouse in the Mile End neighborhood. He began with a curated selection of olive oils from Provence, handmade Peruvian textiles, and Moroccan spices sourced from women-led cooperatives. His focus on quality, consistency, and supplier relationships quickly earned the trust of retailers, fueling steady growth through word of mouth. Today, Charrier Global Imports serves boutique shops, restaurants, and online customers across North America. Jonathan remains deeply involved in sourcing, traveling regularly to meet producers, ensure fair compensation, and support sustainable practices. He believes every product carries a story and honors that belief by treating suppliers as long-term partners rather than transactions.
